U12 Girls Reach National Finals in London

There was huge excitement and pride for everyone at Fylde Hockey Club as our Under 12 Girls team travelled to London to compete in the National In2 Clubs Finals after an incredible tournament run.

The girls began their journey in the Lancashire qualifying round, where they produced outstanding performances to beat Coastal, Didsbury, Preston and Lytham and secure their place at the North West In2 Tournament. Confidence continued to grow as the team took on some of the region’s strongest sides. The girls showed determination, teamwork and fantastic hockey throughout the competition, recording impressive victories over Valkyrs, Kirkby Stephen, Brooklands, Bowdon and Winton to earn a place at the National In2 Clubs Finals in London. Special mention to the teams semi-final win against Bowdon which the girls won on penalty shuffles thanks to some fantastic saves from goalkeeper Olivia Ford.

Reaching the national finals was already a remarkable achievement, but the girls continued to represent the club brilliantly against some of the best Under 12 teams in the country, including Surbiton, Cambridge and Stourport. Although the team did not come away as national champions, they officially finished as the 8th best Under 12 girls hockey team in the country — an incredible accomplishment and one that everyone at the club is immensely proud of. The players showed fantastic commitment, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, and they should all be extremely proud of what they achieved together.

A huge thank you also goes to all of the parents and family members who travelled down to London to support the girls throughout the finals weekend. Your encouragement and support made a massive difference. Coach Rebecca would also like to give a special thank you to team manager Hollie Twose for all of her support and hard work throughout the tournament journey. Congratulations once again to our amazing U12 Girls team on a truly memorable season and an achievement the whole club can celebrate.
