As we welcome back players from last season and say hello to new faces, we wanted to take the time to say thank you for choosing Fylde HC! In this section you will find all the information you need to know for the upcoming Junior Season.
To stay up to date sign up to our club newsletter, Focus on Fylde using the sign-up form above.
Our Junior Section is led by Katherine Wholey, our Junior Club Captain and supported by both Chris Simcock, Head of Performance and Coaching and Phil Hope, Junior Head Coach. They are assisted by a team of experienced coaches.
All our coaches hold current EHB qualifications and receive regular training in First Aid and Safeguarding. Many are also experienced players who currently play in, or coach, our senior teams.
Membership fees can be paid yearly, per session or monthly via standing order. Membership fees cover the cost of all age group training sessions. Additional training, the Performance Academy, and games may incur additional costs.
Information on how to complete a membership form and payment can be found here.
Equipment and Safety
Safety whilst playing is of fundamental importance. The club has spare hockey sticks for players to borrow. All players are strongly recommended to wear shin pads and mouth guards at all training sessions. We also recommend wearing gloves.
The game is only safe if the players play in the correct manner and listen to instruction from the qualified coaching staff.
To purchase Official Fylde Kit, please visit our online club shop, where you can purchase playing/training kit and a range of gifts.
Junior Games & Selection
At Fylde HC we recognise the value of learning through gameplay. We have seen great progress from our juniors using this policy. Presently, our juniors are entered into the: England Hockey In2Hockey age group tournaments; England Hockey Championships; Lancashire Central Women’s Hockey League for U13s and U15s; Greater Manchester Junior Hockey.
All competitions and games are entered dependent on numbers. Where we have more players than teams, places will be selected by a selection committee made up of the Head Coach, Junior Head Coach and Junior Club Captain.
You can read our Selection Policy in full here.
As well as tournaments and games, Fylde HC coaches also look for additional opportunities for coaching, team building and tours for our junior sides.
Last year we took our Junior Girls U12 team to watch the Jaffa 6’s in London. This season, we are exploring the opportunity to take our U14 age group (boys and girls) on tour to Amsterdam where they will play other junior teams as well as recieve coaching from the club coaches there.
Junior Hockey Camps
Our holiday Hockey Camps are run by International and National League player/coach Ali Ghazanfar and are also supported by our club coaches. Dates are planned for the school holidays of the next academic year.
