Wins for the Ladies 1s and 2s, the latter beating the Ladies 3s in a Division 1 intra-club battle

Fylde 1  2-0  City Of York 1

On Saturday Fylde 1st team were back in action after the half term break, at home against City of York. Having not managed to take 3 points since the opening game of the season, Fylde were looking to put in a good performance against bottom of the table York.

In typical fashion Fylde started strong, and on 16 minutes Jessica Wharton produced a pin point finish to a well worked penalty corner to put Fylde ahead.

Fylde continued to pile on the pressure, forcing the York keeper to make some excellent saves to keep them in the game. Just before the half time whistle, Sophia Melling made it 2-0 after lifting the ball over the keeper in yet another goal mouth scramble.

Fylde controlled the game, but despite creating lots of opportunities they couldn't find a 3rd goal to finish the game off.

A late surge by York called Fylde keeper Katie Barker into action with a save, but it was their only real chance of the game, and Fylde saw the game out to win 2-0.

An excellent effort from the whole team to get back to winning ways

Fylde 3  1-4  Fylde 2

Fylde 2s came away with a well-earned 4–1 victory against Fylde 3s in what proved to be a tough and competitive league encounter.

Both teams started strongly, but it was the 2s who got the breakthrough. A short corner created the opportunity, with Donna Hurd getting a crucial deflection to guide the ball into the back of the net and put the 2s ahead.

The 3s continued to battle hard and found an equaliser just before half-time to bring the game level.

The second half saw the 2s take to the pitch with just 11 players and no substitutes following an injury, making for an even tougher challenge. Despite this, the team showed fantastic resilience and determination, quickly finding their rhythm and regaining the lead as Hermione Edwards made a fantastic run down the baseline to score the second goal.

There was some excellent attacking play down the sides, with Hermione Edwards and Fran Moore both making great runs creating opportunities for the team. The 2s continued to build momentum, with some lovely passing play creating another opportunity where Fran Moore was waiting at the back post to get the final touch and extend the lead.

With Emma Savidge and Dawn Child putting in a brilliant shift in midfield, the 2s showed great teamwork, dominating the middle of the pitch and keeping the team ticking over throughout the second half.

The 2s weren't finished there! Another penalty corner provided the opportunity for their fourth, with the ball falling to Donna Hurd, who smashed it into the back of the net to claim her second goal of the match.

It was a tough contest against a determined Fylde 3s side who battled hard right until the final whistle. The 2s showed great resilience, teamwork and determination to come away with a well-earned win.

A brilliant team effort from the 2s! 🏑💙

Fylde 3  1-4  Fylde 2

This week saw the club’s 2s and 3s play against each other in a very competitive match. As always the 3s parents came along to support but this week they stepped it up another notch to spur the girls on.

This week the girls had coach Reb bring in a new formation and style of play which the girls were eager to learn and put into practice.

The first half was intense, with 2s taking the opening goal, the 3s didn’t let their heads drop, we jumped straight back in, keeping calm and keeping the ball moving around the pitch.

The 3s looked good on their break, therefore they took advantage of when the opposition player was trying to argue a foul, Abbie Southern sent the ball straight through the middle of the pitch through to Issy Gut who used her insane speed to wrap around the 2s defence, passing the ball to Emily Finney who had positioned herself perfectly in front of the keeper to slot the ball away in between her legs. This left the game at 1-1 half time.

The second half brought the 3s coming back out with the same formations and same team principles which in all fairness they now realise at that moment they should have changed over to a more attacking formation… but that’s something they can take into future games and game management.

Despite it not reflecting how the 3s played in the second half the 2s managed to score 3 more to bag themselves a 4-1 win, even if goalkeeper Emily Byers felt hard done to by the third goal, she played exceptionally well the entire game with some cracking saves and excellent speaking from the back to dictate play and encourage her team.

The 3s did not stop putting a shift in the entire game and deserve every bit of credit for their performance which they hope to take into other games for some wins, we are incredibly proud of this Saturday’s team for their determination and resilience whilst working together for each other.

Fylde 4  1-2  Carlisle 2

Fylde 4s welcomed table leaders Carlisle 2s for their first ever game at Mill Farm. Carlisle brought a strong, well-rehearsed team who immediately made their presence felt on the pitch.

Fylde set up well in defence with Evie Bromley leading the marking and despite repeated efforts by Carlisle, they struggled to find a circle entry. Talia Armstead did well to intercept balls on the 23 and drive the play up the pitch working with Sophia Taylor on the right wing.

Fylde looked to defend the middle, forcing Carlisle out wide. Carlisle won a few penalty corners which were all decisively cleared by Amelie Horabin and Evie Green.

The sea of white shirts in the defensive 23 definitely hindered Carlisle's game until an interception from a Fylde free hit gave Carlisle their chance to get into the circle and strike bottom left, giving the keeper not time to react.

Fylde restarted with the same strength, immediately heading to Carlisle's circle. Ellie Hope protected the ball in the circle before passing to Eleanor Bullough who sent a square pass to the P spot where Alyssa Woodman picked up the ball, rolled out and sent a rocket past the keeper to even the score.

Fylde took confidence from the goal and began to take more possession. Faye Jackson made an important save just as we broke for half time.

The second half saw a more dominant Fylde, evening out the play and showing they were a match for this strong opposition. We saw the return of Evie Dunne from injury who brought her experience to the defence and created chances for Matilda Thompson down the left wing.

Fylde's marking was strong and the team managed to hold Carlisle further and further up the pitch. Ruby Roberts worked hard in the midfield, pivoting the ball through transfer passes. Defensive penalty corners were effective with goal keeper Faye talking to her players to ensure Carlisle had few opportunities.

Fylde continued to drive into Carlisle's half finally securing a penalty corner. Evie Bromley stepped up for the first time but unfortunately Carlisle were quick off the mark and managed to intercept.

Carlisle picked up the pace, pushing through the midfield and a bouncy ball into the circle found the Carlisle player who chipped the ball into the goal. Fylde's resolve did not drop and the team worked hard to keep Carlisle at bay and create more attacking chances.

The final whistle blew at a 2-1 loss but a good performance from the 4s.

Fylde 5  1-5  Chorley Phoenix 2

Fylde 5’s played the last match of the day under floodlights with a few loyal supporters in the stand making it a very long day for some!

Once again we came across a mainly adult team which included their 1st Team captain, who had been given special dispensation to play, despite normally playing two divisions above our level!

The young Fylde team fought well, with coach Fran bringing onfield advice and experience and increasing the average age!

Fylde held the opposition well in the first half, creating chances of their own, and only going down to a well taken goal in the 34th minute by their guest player!

The tide turned in the second half as Chorley Pheonix 2 put away another four goals despite some good saves from GK Faye Jackson. Holidays and a late start may have taken their toll…

Penny Atkinson replied with a sneaky shot after a circle-entry scramble and we left with some pride after all!

Our young team scurried away to their parties as Halloween beckoned and we continue to seek our first points of the season.

Lancaster University 2  C-C  Fylde 6

Fylde had to concede their game due to lack of numbers, but had played the week before, when no one else did.

Fylde 6 1-9 Clitheroe Blackburn Northern Development (Saturday 24th)

Off the back of Storm Austen and with Storm Boelo looming, Fylde 6s travelled to Westholme School to take on Clitheroe Blackburn Northern Development in what proved to be a challenging away fixture.

Unfortunately, the result went against us, with Fylde suffering a 9–1 defeat. However, the scoreline certainly doesn’t tell the full story, as the squad put in a fantastic performance against a rather experienced opposition.

By half-time, Fylde found themselves 6–0 down, but the team refused to be disheartened. Recognising the effort they had already put in, they returned to the pitch determined to keep competing and make their mark on the game.

Their hard work paid off in the 66th minute when Techari Taylor found the back of the net with a fantastic goal on her debut for Fylde 6s! A brilliant achievement and a memorable way to make her mark in her first appearance for the squad.

We also came agonisingly close to adding to our tally, with Winnie van Rijn creating two great opportunities that, unfortunately, just didn’t find the back of the net.

Facing such an experienced side in challenging weather conditions was never going to be easy, but the team should be incredibly proud of their performance. There was plenty of grit, commitment and team spirit on display, with every player giving their all until the final whistle.

A tough result, but a performance full of character, resilience and positives to build on. Well played, Fylde 6s!

Kendal 1  5-3  Fylde 1

Fylde Mens 1’s came to Kendal 1 point ahead in the league but expecting a tough game against an unbeaten side. They didn’t however expect to be 4-1 down after 15 minutes in a disastrous start.

Kendal scored within a few minutes of the start with a long ball bouncing wickedly giving the striker a shot ahead of the defender. However Fylde equalised quickly after winning a short corner and Connor Lasrado, on his debut for the team, accurately finding the corner of the goal.

Kendal then proceeded to score with every small opportunity they were given, 3 goals in just 10 minutes. They were clinical with deflections, finding unmarked players within the D, created a lot of movement and punished any Fylde mistakes.

Fylde gradually gained some composure and settled into the high intensity of the match. Harry Gordon caused problems to the Kendal defence but goal scoring chances were slim.

Kendal thought they’d scored a 5th when they had a one on one chance running into the Fylde D but Craig Nutter kicked the ball away from the attacker, but it was picked up by a supporting forward who then fired into the empty goal, however the half-time whistle was blown just before the goal was scored, finally some good fortune for Fylde.

A frank discussion at half-time and some minor amendments saw Fylde play much better in the second half. They won an early short corner and Harry Gordon scored with a straight shot to reduce the deficit to two goals.

It was end to end for a long period, with neither defence allowing too many real chances, but Fylde did concede some short corners. From one of these a shot at an angle was wickedly deflected back towards goal leaving no chance for a save, giving Kendal a 5-2 lead.

Despite this setback Fylde kept attacking, bringing on younger subs Teddy Rowe and Will van Rijn for more energy. Fylde eventually found a break through with some neat skills and shot from captain for the day Harry Gordon.

The game ended in a 5-3 loss, with Fylde winning the second half 2-1 but frustrated by the initial 15 minutes of the game.

Simon Holt was voted Man of the Match.

Kendal 2 Development  3-2  Fylde 2 Development

After a bright start, and somewhat against the run of play, Fylde Men 2’s went behind after a striker was left unmarked in the D, however they soon equalised after some good work up front by Duke Jones ended with a reverse stick strike into the goal by Ralph Baron.

Evan Allday and Teddy Rowe provided Fylde with a lot of possession and attacking from midfield. However Evan got a knock to the head when an opposition player came in for a tackle with their stick raised, for which they received a yellow card, and Evan applied an ice pack for a few minutes in the dugout.

Fylde took the lead before half-time after an initial shot by Jamie Rowe was saved by the keeper but Duke Jones was on hand for a tap-in.

Despite Fylde looking the stronger team, Kendal still caused problems, particularly with one skilful player dribbling through, and they equalised early in the second half with an attack down the middle of the pitch.

Fylde continued to press and took the lead with a great passing move. Paul Thomson had made a run down the left wing and earned a free hit. He passed back to Evan Allday who then found Phil Weir who had run forward into space, he then passed square to Jamie Rowe in the centre just in front of the D. He then picked out his father inside the D and Charlie Rowe turned and struck the ball hard into the backboard to give Fylde a 3-2 lead.

Fylde won several short corners and despite some nice moves they couldn’t quite score again. Fylde’s defence of Zach Read, Mark Smith, Phil Weir and Paul Thomson held firm along with coach Steve Allday in a rare outing as goalkeeper.

Final score 3-2 to Fylde with Man of the Match being Steve Allday.
