Battling draw for the Ladies 1s followed by a hard working win for the Ladies 2s finished with an ultimately thumping win for the Mens 1s on a summy autumnal day at Mill Farm
Fylde 1 1-1 Durham University 2
On Saturday Fylde 1st team hosted Durham University 2nd team. Coming off the back of two losses, Fylde were keen to put in a good performance and get back to winning ways.
Fylde started brightly, pinning Durham into their own half, and the pressure paid off when Nicky Kellett found the back of the net after some lovely work down the right.
Durham looked threatening on the counter attack and won a couple of penalty corners, but Fylde's defence held strong. However just before the break, Durham broke through Fylde's press to level up the score going into half time.
There were chances for both teams to win the game in the second half, but neither could produce the quality needed in the final third and the game ended in a fair 1-1 draw.
Player of the match went to Lisa Perry for her tireless work in midfield
Fylde 2 3-0 Lancaster & District 1
The game began evenly, with both Fylde and Lancaster & District starting strongly and looking to set the tone. It was a very equal contest in the opening stages, with both sides pressing aggressively and trying to force turnovers high up the pitch. Fylde stayed disciplined, holding a tight, well‑timed press that prevented Lancaster from building any meaningful momentum.
Once Fylde absorbed the early exchanges, they began to settle and take control of the tempo. Strong, structured play down the left from Donna Hurd and Sally Livesey kept Fylde moving forward, recycling possession with patience and pinning Lancaster back.
Fylde opened up the scoring with pure attacking flair from Jessica Jennings receiving a brilliant ball down the wing, drove forward with pace, and opened up a clear attacking advantage as she carried play into the D. Her composure and vision set up Chelsea Atkinson, who finished clinically to give Fylde their first goal and spark real momentum.
Lancaster pushed hard to respond, but Fylde’s midfield engines Hermione Edwards, Olivia John-Haslam and Holly Farquharson, worked tirelessly to break up play, maintain the disciplined press, and launch counterattacks. Their graft kept Fylde firmly in control as the game moved into the second half.
The second goal came from a sweeping ball down the right from Esther Thomson, who picked out Emma Savidge perfectly. Emma drove forward with intent, linking play beautifully before feeding Kiera Tomes, who finished confidently to double Fylde’s lead. A brilliant team move from back to front.
The third goal came from brilliant link‑up play in midfield, with quick, intelligent passing carving open space and pulling Lancaster out of shape. The move flowed forward with real purpose before Chelsea Atkinson stepped in to finish it off — a powerful, perfectly‑timed strike that sealed the win.
Fylde saw out the final minutes with structure, composure, and the togetherness that has defined their season so far.
A brilliant home performance, full of graft, quality, and discipline and the unbeaten run continues.
Clitheroe Blackburn Northern 1 7-0 Fylde 3
Another week, another different team for Fylde Ladies 3s as we took on a tough CBN side! Despite the 7-0 result, the team continued to work hard throughout and showed some promising moments of play.
Within the first 10 minutes of play Blae Cain had another ACL injury which we wish her a speedy recovery in. After that the team found it hard to settle and adapting to playing out of position which left gaps through the middle of the pitch.
There was some great passing on show, with some lovely link-up play helping us move the ball around and work together as a team. Although CBN proved a strong opposition, we kept battling until the final whistle and continued to look for opportunities going forward.
This doesn’t mean that Fylde didn’t create their own chances as the game was fairly end to end for the majority of the time however CBN managed to capitalise on their chances and just wasn’t Fylde’s day.
Plenty to build on as we take the positives from the game and look ahead to the next game against our own 2s after the half term break!
Windermere 1 5-0 Fylde 5
Fylde travelled to Windermere to face a tough challenge against Windermere 1s.
Windermere started strongly, scoring four goals in the first half and putting Fylde under pressure. Despite the difficult start, Fylde regrouped at half-time and came back onto the pitch with renewed determination.
Fylde were much stronger in the second half, working hard to maintain possession and create attacking opportunities. They produced several close chances and showed great improvement in their overall play. However, Windermere managed to add another goal to their tally.
Despite the result, Fylde showed a positive response after half-time, controlling more of the game and demonstrating a much stronger performance in the second half.
Lytham St Annes Development 2-1 Fylde 6
Fylde 6s travelled to face Lytham St Annes Development in their first away fixture of the season, ending with a narrow 2-1 defeat after a competitive and hard-fought encounter.
Playing against this opposition for the first time, Fylde faced a side strengthened by a group of experienced players. Despite the challenge, the team performed admirably throughout, matching their opponents for long periods and working hard to hold their ground defensively.
Fylde 6’s reward for their efforts came in the 21st minute when Eloise Russell, assisted by Winnie van Rijn, found the back of the net.
Lytham came back with two goals and whilst Fylde showed determination and resilience, creating several further opportunities and continually making attempts on goal, unfortunately they were unsuccessful.
There were encouraging individual performances across the pitch for Fylde, including two goalkeepers who played outfield and a debut for Scarlett Smith who settled into the game well and defended confidently.
Although the result did not go our way, every Fylde 6’s player should be proud of their performance, perseverance and sportsmanship brought to the match.
Fylde 1 7-1 Preston 4
A late afternoon local derby saw Fylde 1s take on Preston 4s, with both sides starting strongly and moving the ball well.
Fylde opened the scoring after a brilliant run down the wing from Duke Jones, who played the ball across the D for Thomas Lumby to finish at the back post.
Both teams continued creating chances, but Preston equalised from a short corner after a defensive mix-up left Fylde without a first runner, allowing Preston to fire straight down the middle. Despite some great attacking runs from Charlie Oliver, the sides went into half-time level at 1-1.
Following a strong half-time team talk, Fylde came out firing. Harry Gordon restored the lead with a powerful strike from a short corner before Thomas Lumby added another with a superb deflection into the bottom corner.
Fylde continued to dominate possession, with Captain Luke Hitchen and Jack Jones playing some excellent balls out from the back. Lumby soon completed his hat-trick with a brilliant flick into the roof of the net.
Preston threatened on the counterattack, but Fylde’s defence and goalkeeper Craig Nutter stood firm.
Some great attacking play from Duke Jones and Tim Van Rijn led to another goal, with Charlie Oliver battling on the penalty spot to force the ball over the line.
Fylde kept the pressure on, with Oliver, Van Rijn and Henry Harrison creating chances down both wings, forcing some excellent saves from Preston’s goalkeeper.
Harry Gordon then grabbed his second of the game after a great pass from Duke Jones, finishing on the reverse underneath the goalkeeper.
Fylde’s final goal came from a dangerous ball across the D by Henry Harrison, which was brilliantly deflected into the net.
A fantastic second-half performance from Fylde secured a convincing 7-1 victory over their local rivals!
Man of the Match: Thomas Lumby for his brilliant hat-trick!
Well done, all!
[EDIT: Notable that it was Tom's debut for the team and he had his own crowd of adoring fans in his 2 young daughters watching from the stands. The game also saw an injury to veteran defender Pete Latimer who took a stick to the face trying to make a last-ditch tackle towards the end of the first half. He had to leave the game but will be back soon.]
