Match Reports 10 Oct 2026
The Mens 1's keep on winning and the Mens 2's win for the first time in style 10-0
Repton 1 4-1 Fylde 1
Fylde Ladies 1s travelled to Repton with just 12 players available and several key players missing. However, this created opportunities within the squad and saw Camilla Wyles make her debut for the team.
Fylde started brightly, finding their rhythm early and putting Repton under pressure with an energetic forward line of Jessica Wharton, Rebecca Worthington, Sophia Melling and Wyles. Their high press paid off in the 15th minute when midfielder Steph Heaps played Wharton into the D. Wharton drove towards goal before firing the ball across for Worthington to slide in and deflect home.
Repton responded with some impressive link-up play and positive runs from their youthful side. Katie Barker made some important saves in the Fylde goal, but Repton eventually found an equaliser from a penalty corner in the 24th minute. Fylde continued to create opportunities, with defenders Lucy Partington and Sophia Murray supplying the forwards.
After half-time, Repton increased the tempo and began to find more space. Lisa Perry, Grace McGarvey and Heaps worked hard in midfield to disrupt their attacks, but Repton took the lead in the 43rd minute before adding a third six minutes later. Rosie Atkinson and Vicky Rukin were kept busy in defence, working hard to limit further opportunities.
Repton extended their lead to 4-1 early in the final quarter. Following an injury, Fylde were left to see out the remainder of the match without any substitutes, with forward Worthington moving into the defensive line. Final score 4-1.
Despite the result, Fylde showed plenty of determination and work rate throughout, with positives to take from the performance and valuable opportunities for players within the squad. The team can hold their heads high after a challenging away fixture.
Winnington Park 1 1-1 Fylde 2
Fylde Ladies 2s made their way to Winnington Park hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Fylde had several changes in their line up due to injury and some unavailability but were determined to work together to build on their points tally.
After a bright and dominant start, Fylde took the lead with some excellent attacking play from Fran Moore at left midfield passing to Sasha Brown in the D. Sasha’s skills ensured the ball made its way to Dawn Child who then crossed from the left for composed Emma Savidge to slot the ball away to go 1-0 up.
A well deserved early lead. Fylde continued to hold a high amount of possession but the team were not able to increase the lead.
The home side came out with more force in the second half and capitalised from a break 5 minutes in, making it 1-1.
Winnington then defended resolutely against the constant onslaught of Fylde pressure resulting in goal line clearances and close penalty corner chances. Unfortunately, the Fylde girls could not quite snatch the lead and things ended all square at 1-1.
Fylde 3 0-1 Didsbury Greys 1
We came up just short at home, going down 1–0 to Didsbury Greys after they struck early — a tight, competitive game that was ultimately decided by a single moment.
The visitors got off to a flying start and had us on the back foot early, finding the net within the opening stages to take the lead. It wasn’t the start we wanted, but to our credit we didn’t let our heads drop. We settled into the game, started to keep the ball much better, and slowly grew into the contest as the half wore on.
From there it became a real battle. We had plenty of possession and pushed forward in search of the equaliser, moving the ball around nicely and forcing Greys onto the back foot. They defended well, though, getting bodies behind the ball and making it hard for us to find a way through. It was a proper contest — both sides working hard, neither giving much away.
The longer it stayed 1–0, the more we threw at it. We kept the pressure on in the second half, won a few corners and had some half-chances that got the crowd going, but Greys held firm and saw it out. Sometimes it just isn’t quite your day — we did a lot right, but the final touch in front of goal just wouldn’t come off for us.
A frustrating result, but not a bad performance by any means. We competed well, played some decent stuff, and gave ourselves chances — we just couldn’t find that one moment to turn it around. On another day, with a bit more luck in front of goal, it could easily have been a different story.
Man of the match this week went to Lauren Appleyard for a strong performance in defence, vital tackles and clearances to keep Fylde within fighting chances.
Clitheroe Blackburn Northern 2 3-2 Fylde 4
Fylde 4s travelled to Westholme for a close encounter with Clitheroe Blackburn Northern 2nd team. Hoping to build on the success of the previous week, the predominantly junior team were greeted by another mixed adult/junior side.
CBN won the first pushback however Fylde wasted no time getting stuck in. An early attack saw Alyssa Woodman take on the keeper to score an early goal within 2 minutes.
CBN restarted with enthusiasm and attacked in numbers. Dawn Perruzza, Evie Bromley and Amelie Horabin established the defence with goal keeper Laura Troth’s direction. Attempts on goal were blocked allowing Nikki Richmond to carry the ball out of the circle and hit a long ball nearly the length of the pitch, only to be picked up by Alyssa Woodman on the attacking 23 who took full advantage of the lack of defenders and scored her second of the game only a few minutes after her first.
This early lead took Fylde a little by surprise and only seemed to buoy CBN into action. They attacked hard and with an overload of the circle resulting in a penalty corner. Despite Evie Green’s great run out to deter the first shot, a scrappy deflection near the post gave CBN a goal.
The reset brought more of the same intensity from CBN although Fylde did make breaks through the midfield giving Eleanor Bullough chances in the circle. Amelie Horabin displayed great resilience as her opposition player became increasingly physical, however the umpire picked this up and a green card was given. Just as the player returned to the pitch, CBN were awarded another penalty corner which played out like the first, giving Fylde little chance to react and evening the score.
Fylde did not give up as Emily Daniels had several runs down the right wing and down to the baseline looking for the forwards in the circle however CBN defence were experienced and quick to turnover the ball and send it back down their left side outpacing Fylde’s midfield. CBN scored their third from open play and the half time whistle was welcome as the wind picked up.
Fylde’s focus for the second half was much closer marking and more posting up. This definitely had an impact as players came back to mark, giving CBN fewer options in the circle. Ellie Hope played deeper to support the midfield and Matilda Thompson and Niamh Smith spread the play to the full width of the pitch, allowing for more 1-2s and breaking through CBN’s defence.
Fylde won a number of penalty corners in the second half but did not manage to convert. Fylde regained control but CBN were well rehearsed once they reached the circle. An unfortunate foot on the line, meant a penalty stroke was awarded to CBN. Laura Troth dived right and saved the flick, no problem, cheers from the team ensued.
Fylde were determined to pull back a goal and were relentless in the last ten minutes. Zoe Blofeld supported the attack on her debut and despite the best efforts the forward line, Fylde couldn’t quite make the draw this week.
A tough game for Fylde, with a young team still learning to play together. However, resilience and positive attitudes kept Fylde in the game. There is no doubt that the return match will be a chance for redemption.
Fylde 5 0-2 Pendle Forest 3
Fylde's first home game of the season with Alice Bishop, Leah Richmond and Carrena Leverton previously already played a game in the morning. Fylde introduced a new player from the sixth team, Tilly Best for her first game with the 5's.
Back in their original formation, Fylde focused on blocking out the middle and using our youth players with speed to attack the width. An even match to begin with and possession from both teams creating the chances.
Unfortunately, Pendle Forest found the back of the net when breaking through the defence of Poppy Benson, Elizabeth Porter, Alice Bishop, Fran-Loffler Thompson and Faith Mcgillivary. Fylde reset but Pendle fought again, making it 2-0 for the first half.
Fylde came back in the second half with a plan to use the width of the pitch and increase our chances. Although this didn't work in the final outcome, Fylde had many chances to gain a goal. Ruby Roberts worked with Poppy Benson in triangles to send the ball to Nancy Lawson on the line, who ran the backline and sent the ball into the d. Imi Todd and Alexa Airton were unlucky for the ball to not go over the line but definitely had their shots on target.
Pendle Forest continued to create chances but were blocked by Faye Jackson, sending the ball back to Leah Richmond and Ruby Roberts to move forward up the pitch. In the final minutes of the game, Fylde fought for any chances of the ball to hit the back of the net.
Unlucky to have lost 2-0 but an amazing effort from all players and a fair match from both teams. Well done to Poppy Benson for Fylde's man of the match!
Fylde 6 8-0 Chorley Phoenix Development
Despite a cold and windy day, with a little rain thrown in for good measure, the team put in a phenomenal performance and showed just how well they can play together!
Tight on numbers and matching the opposition’s ten players, it certainly didn’t stop the team from delivering an outstanding game. From start to finish, Fylde 6s showed fantastic determination, communication and teamwork, with some brilliant passages of play throughout.
The majority of the game was spent in the opposition’s half, creating plenty of opportunities to attack and score. Chorley Phoenix Development kept fighting at every opportunity and it certainly made for a great game. However Fylde 6s continuously fought well with some fantastic passes that were executed brilliantly, moving the ball around the pitch with confidence and composure.
A huge congratulations to Eloise Russell and Winnie van Rijn, who both secured fantastic hat-tricks with Jenny Strachan also adding two goals to the scoreline. There were multiple assists from various members of the team, highlighting the selfless play and collective effort that contributed to such a strong performance.
It wasn’t just about the goals though, what stood out most was how everyone pulled together, particularly with players being asked to take on unfamiliar positions. Rather than letting the changes affect the performance, the team adapted, communicated brilliantly and continued to play some outstanding hockey. The support, encouragement and willingness to work for each other was evident throughout. A great game and a great result!
Garstang 1 2-3 Fylde 1
Fylde Mens 1’s came back from being 1-0 down at half-time to record a 3-2 away victory against local rivals Garstang 1’s, in the first match between the two sides in four seasons.
Fylde started poorly with some sloppy passing around the back, however there was some good midfield possession and passing between players.
Garstang looked dangerous with some skilful players, including 5 ex-Fylde players from years gone by, and there was some good defence from Fylde stopping clear opportunities around the D. However Garstang managed to win a short corner and after the initial shot was saved, there was a secondary attack from which they scored from a tight angle.
Fylde’s attempts to get the ball up to last year’s top scorer Harry Gordon were thwarted by him being double-marked in front and behind, giving him little space to play him. Attacks down the wings were more fruitful, but there weren’t many shots in the D, and what there were either went wide of the goal or were saved.
Fylde knew they had the ability to come back from being 1-0 down, but it was actually a Garstang error which led to the equalising goal. A defender passed the ball from wide left back into the D, not realising that Fylde’s captain Luke Hitchin was lurking and able to intercept, giving him a 1-on-1 chance with the goalkeeper, and he skilfully flicked the ball over him into the goal.
Fylde then went on a period of dominating possession and attacks, with full backs Henry Brogden and Joe Shepherd pushing up in support on the wings. Fylde took the lead at a short corner, where the initial shot was blocked by the goalkeeper, but not cleared, and in the goal-mouth scramble it was Schalk de Wet who was at hand to push the ball into the goal.
Fylde went 3-1 with Oli van Rijn getting the final touch on a ball crossed in the D, after returning to the game following a period on the sidelines after the ball hit his forehead early in the first half.
Garstang still looked dangerous on the counter attack, and with ten minutes to go, they won a short corner which didn’t go to plan but they kept possession and a striker ran back into the D on the byeline avoiding several tackles, crossed the ball to the p-spot, which defender Pete Latimer tried to push away from danger, but instead managed to deflect it at an angle into the goal leaving keeper Joe O’Brien no chance to adjust.
Garstang put more pressure on, looking to equalise in the final few minutes, but Fylde defended as a team and saw the game out for their third win in four games.
A great team performance with Man of the Match being awarded to Henry Brogden.
Fylde 2 Devt 10-0 Leyland & Chorley 3 Devt

Leyland & Chorley’s had a real development team with only 2 adults starting and just 10 players in total, until a 3rd adult arrived after 15 minutes. Fylde’s 2nd team only contained 3 of their young development players this week, alongside the emerging 17 yr old talent in captain Teddy Rowe, with the remainder being the older men in the club (some much older than others), but they matched Leyland’s player numbers to be as fair as possible.
Fylde were always the better team and dominated possession, but the game was played in a good spirit throughout.
Evan Allday owned his central midfield position and distributed well. Teddy Rowe attacked from midfield with some fine dribbling displays, and had scored a hat-trick within 20 minutes, and ended up with an impressive 6 goals by the end of the match.
Alfie Smith linked up well in attack and was unlucky to only score the one goal in the first half.
5-0 at half-time, Fylde wanted to concentrate on their possession and passing skills in the second half, which still led to another 5 goals.
Ralph Baron scored his debut goal for Fylde, and then later doubled it following a key pass from Paul Thomson who’d made space for himself on the byeline having run up from right back (or was it right midfield).
Evan Allday finally got a goal for himself when one of his straight strikes at a short corner managed to sneak under the diving goalkeeper.
Ethan Morris had a quiet day in goal but did have to make a couple of important saves and therefore kept an important clean sheet.
A convincing win and a happy team, despite the soaking they got on the pitch from a wicked horizontal rain shower in the middle of the game.
Evan Allday was voted Man of the Match.
