Ladies Match Reports 2/11/19

Fylde 1XI

Investec Women's England Hockey League North Conference

The EH National League was not in action this weekend due to the Olympic Qualifiers, which both the GB Women and Men managed to qualify for Japan 2020.

Fylde 2XI 1-0 Deeside 1XI

North Hockey League West Division 2

This season sees Fylde 2nds playing in a higher division mainly against club first teams. The season started with an unsettled team and over half of last years squad needing replacement. The team has played all the teams in the top half and on Saturday played the form team in the division.

The game began with pressure from a well drilled opposition who transferred the ball around the back well. The high pressing Fylde team took some time to sort it but a goal from Lucy Barrow helped to settle the team. The game moved from side to side and by the end of the first 35 minutes Fylde were starting to control the game. This continued in the second half and although there were a few scary moments the team worked really hard to win another game and move up the table.

Great credit goes to Sarah Hart who played with an injury sustained last week.

Leyland & Chorley 5-3 Fylde 3XI

North Hockey League West Division 3 North

A much changed Women’s 3rd team played a very competitive away match against Leyland and Chorley and reached the break level with goals from Hannah Callagher and Megan Coar. The 2nd half saw the Fylde girls concede 3 goals with only one in reply from Laura Alexander. The Fylde girls will reflect on some missed chances and some poor defending which together contributed to an avoidable defeat.

Brookfields 3-0 Fylde 4XI

Lancashire Central Women's Hockey League Division 1

An unfortunate loss for the 4’s. They played Brookfields ladies away, losing 3-0. The ladies battled hard with a team that don’t usually play together. A fantastic defence who dealt with an onslaught of strikes! Motm goes to Anya Jackson and Eve Gooderham.

Fylde 5XI 4-2 Lytham St. Annes 3XI

Lancashire Central Women's Hockey League Division 2

The Fylde 5th Team played a Fylde Coast derby game at home against Lytham 3rd Team and came away with the honours in a good 4-2 win. This week we fielded three new youngsters in a large, rotating squad against a youthful Lytham team. Two goals from Hennie Thompson and one from new youngster Katie Thompson helped to secure the win. Charlotte Fuller was on the score sheet once again with a fine scooped shot from short range and Lali Atherton was voted Player of the Match for a strong performance in her new central defensive role.
