Hockey Skills at Half Term Activity Camps
Thursday 23rd May, 2024, was a landmark occasion for Fylde Hockey Club as we linked up, for the first time, with the AFC Fylde Community Foundation, to deliver hockey coaching at two May Half Term Activity Camps.
The camps were held on the playground at Kirkham St.Michael’s Primary School and at The Warton BActive/Lightning Club indoor sports hall.
We ran two one and half hour “Introduction to Hockey” sessions for about 50 youngsters across the two sites, aged 5-10yrs.
We used new sticks, balls and kit bags purchased from our Crowdfunding initiative to support the venture. Experienced coaches, Adrian & Janet Metcalf with Fran Loffler-Thompson, along with Young Leader coach, Hollie Twose, were supported by Community Foundation staff in delivering hockey as a new sport to the excited youngsters.
Encouraged by Teamwork between the AFC Fylde Community Foundation and Fylde Hockey Club, we coached hockey skills to Inspire the next generation of potential players, who showed us Respect for, and enjoyment of, our chosen sport of Hockey in this Olympic Year!
