The adult section will be hosting two club days at Mill Farm on the 5th and 12th September, that will follow England Hockey's COVID ‘return to hockey’ guidance.
England Hockey's recent move to step 4 allows us to get back to playing competitive hockey but with some restrictions, for example having a maximum of 30 together on the pitch at any one time. Normally we would already have pre-season friendlies arranged in the diary, but we want to provide every opportunity to get back on the pitch playing hockey and these two days will provide a great start.
Both days will be used for training and trials, as well as being an opportunity to socialise after lockdown. The coaches will be using the two days to make decisions on squad selection, player progression and coaching needs. The Club has published an updated selection policy which can be viewed here. It is important to be open and transparent on how selection will be made throughout the season.
The Men's section will be on the pitch between 1200-1400 and the Ladies section between 1400-1700 on both days. Please watch out for a Teamo invite and confirm your availability on each of these dates via the app. This will enable us to build a timetable of games over the two dates.
Not only will players be in action, but club umpires will dust off the whistle and use this opportunity to get back out on the pitch. We have many newly qualified umpires who successfully passed the Level 1 course during the lockdown period.
On the 5th September we will also be presenting the Senior End of Season Awards to all our worthy winners.
There will be plenty of communication opportunities for members to discuss training, team selection, club structure, Covid guidelines and many other topics with the coaches, captains and committee members that will be in attendance on both days.
