Didsbury Northern Ladies 1s 0-2 Fylde Ladies' 1
Women's England Hockey League North Conference
The Fylde Ladies 1st XI travelled to Manchester to take on newly promoted Didsbury Northern. Having learnt from the previous two losses, Fylde attacked from the outset and were rewarded with a well-worked penalty corner goal, and a goal in open play, both placed neatly in the net by Hattie Madden. Didsbury attempted to counter on a few occasions, but rarely penetrated the Fylde midfield. On the occasions they did, they were met with the solid defence of Lucy Woods, Jayne Wilson and Natasha Hartley-Smith, who turned the Didsbury attack to Fyldes advantage, sending the ball back into the Fylde attacking 25.
Fylde welcome a home game next week where they take on the strong side of Timperly at Mill Farm.
Fylde Ladies' 2 2-1 University of Liverpool Women's 1st
North Hockey League West Division 2
Fylde Ladies 2’s were at home to the freshly promoted University of Liverpool team. In the first half, play was fairly even, with Liverpool having the edge in terms of possession for the first 20 minutes. However, Sally Livesey managed to slot a goal in following the breakdown of a Fylde short corner to take the home side into the lead. Liverpool came back strongly piling on the pressure and making a series of breaks, which kept goalkeeper Katie Barker very busy! Liverpool managed to break through on their right hand side and left the Fylde defence open for them to score the equaliser.
Liverpool came out really strongly after half time and tried to take control of the game but Fylde held strong. Tensions were running very high and both sides were battling hard for the upper hand. Fylde maintained their shape and after a ball through from defence, Charlotte Thomson (making her debut performance) drove the ball skilfully through a series of players and made a superb cross for Hannah Callagher to finish.
Despite increasing pressure from Liverpool’s forward line, Fylde managed to secure their much deserved first three points with the 2-1 victory.

Lancaster & Morecambe Ladies 2nd 1-1 Fylde Ladies' 5
Lancashire Central Women's Hockey League Division 1
The weather in Lancaster was a wonderful bright autumn day. The team arrived raring to go and their enthusiasm for the game was amazing. Lancaster and Morecambe 2XI had a win under their belt so we knew we needed to battle. The first half was end to end with some excellent play from the whole squad. Felicity Flood Whittle made some excellent saves in one of her best matches and it was unfortunate that the opposition sneaked one passed her in the last few minutes of the first half.
The team came back in the second half fighting and dominated the attacking game. The team fought for every ball and chased every attacking attempt with grit and determination. Their persistence payed off with short corner after short corner in the last few minutes. Then moments before the whistle the opposition fouled in the D which resulted in a penalty flick. Phoebe Caunce stepped up to take it and put it in the top left corner with ease.
A strong 1-1 draw for Fylde L5, their first point on the board and MOM to Phoebe Caunce of course.
Fylde Ladies' 6 2-0 Preston Ladies 2s
Lancashire Central Women's Hockey League Division 2
A nice early start for the Ladies 6th team with a 10.00 am pushback against Preston Ladies 2s. The team went in prepared for some tough competition and worked hard to take an early lead in the first half with a goal from Lilly Jones. The play proved to be quite even and Preston made a few advances but could not penetrate the Fylde defences.
Following half time, both teams came back out with renewed strength. Fylde had some great runs, winning a couple of short corners, but Preston’s defence managed to prevent our attempts, in turn Preston managed a few runs and we conceded some short corners, but keeper Dani Howarth and the defenders quickly managed to clear these. With only moments left, Fylde stayed strong and the team's hard work payed off with Georgia Nicholls slipping the ball past Preston's defences just before the final whistle blew! Final score Fylde 2 - 0 Preston.
